Awesome Deal Of The Day - Download Phil Wickham's Live Worship CD for FREE from his website. You only have to sign up for his free newsletter.

My ears perked up the first time I heard Phil on my local K-Love station. Wonderful worship music, a high tenor voice that seems to lift into the clouds, and the lyrics - amazing. I went to I-Tunes and bought the song I heard but you can get it for free, plus 14 more. From your good friends at Jesus Freak Hideout and Phil himself. Cool.

Not only possibly the best band in Christian Music right now, but also one of the best bands in all of music right now, Third Day showed the Hollywood crowd a little bit about uplifting rock and roll. A Few Massive Storms Won't Stop The Ichthus Festival - Christian music festival to begin Thursday as planned

Bad weather has cometh to the Ichthus Festival yet again.

An overnight storm destroyed more than two weeks of preparation for the annual Christian music festival, which starts Thursday in Wilmore. High winds tossed tables, chairs and tents, destroying about 90 percent of the setup.

But as he surveyed the barren festival grounds Tuesday, Ichthus executive director Jeff James said he expects the festival to start Thursday as planned.

"I've gone through some of this every year," he said, unfazed. Nearby, a telephone pole was snapped into three pieces. Several dozen volunteers and workers were resurrecting mangled tents.

Ichthus has had a history of bad luck with weather, earning the nicknames "Mudthus" and "Ickythus."

In 2005, the festival saw a severe thunderstorm Friday night and snow the next day. In 2004, rain created a logistical nightmare getting people into the campsite, and a severe thunderstorm caused evacuation of the campground in 2002.

Phil Stacey's Christian Roots Anchor His Country Album Debut

American Idol alumnus Phil Stacey has combined his Christian upbringing and a passion for country music on his new self-titled album for Lyric Street Records. As a consequence, the album is being worked in both musical formats.

"If You Didn't Love Me" has already climbed to No. 32 on
Billboard's country singles chart, while "Identity," an introspective album cut, is being programmed on several contemporary Christian radio stations. EMI Christian Music Group is distributing the album to Christian music outlets.

"I sing Christian songs on my country record," Stacey says, a point rendered apparent by a close reading of the lyrics, many of which could allude equally well to earthly or spiritual love.
The son and grandson of ministers, Stacey was born 30 years ago in the tiny Harlan County hamlet of Loyal, Ky. During Stacey's youth, his father moved to other pastorates in Kentucky and Ohio before settling into a ministry in Wichita, Kan., where Stacey attended both junior high and senior high school.

Yahoo! Music To Premiere New Casting Crowns Video 'Slow Fade'

castingcrownsbandpicture08.JPG The anticipated world premiere of the powerful new music video “Slow Fade” from Christian music’s top-selling artist Casting Crowns, launches next week exclusively at Yahoo! on Wednesday, May 21. The video will go live on Yahoo! Music’s homepage at midnight EST on Tuesday, and will have homepage and video premier page placement. Casting Crowns is in line with Yahoo’s recent premieres from Sugarland, Kid Rock, Scarlett Johansson and Rascal Flatts. As one of the most visited U.S. websites, the average Yahoo! Music video premiere initially receives 150,000 views and 2-3 million impressions.

“Slow Fade” is the first music video from the GRAMMY-winning, multi-platinum band’s blockbuster RIAA Gold album The Altar and The Door. Produced and directed by the Erwin Brothers, the “Slow Fade” music video was shot in Birmingham, AL., and features crashing pianos and stained glass windows as the storyline follows the heart-wrenching reality of a deteriorating family.

The song, which highlights vocals from lead singer Mark Hall’s daughter Reagan, was “inspired by the spreading cancer of moral failure in the fathers of this generation,” Hall said.

The “Slow Fade” video tells the story of a family slowly fading because of compromising decisions they have made. Hall adds, “As believers, we must guard our hearts and understand that no one crashes and burns, they just slowly fade away, one little compromise at a time.”

Dove Awards Recap

The GMA Dove Awards were handed out last night in Nashville with TobyMac, Mark Hall and Casting Crowns flying highest, but certainly not alone.

Televised live on the Gospel Music Channel and held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, the 39th Annual GMA Dove Awards show featured some impressive numbers: a different artist bestowed with a Dove Award in every major category, statuettes awarded to more than 35 different artists and a dozen performances including more than 30 artists.

The Dove Awards in the overall categories went to:

Artist of the Year: TobyMac

Female Vocalist of the Year: Natalie Grant

Male Vocalist of the Year: Chris Tomlin

Group of the Year: Casting Crowns

New Artist of the Year: Brandon Heath

Songwriter of the Year: Cindy Morgan

Song of the Year: “East to West,” written by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms

Me and my wife got to meet Brandon Heath at a Robbie Seay Band concert last summer and he was just the nicest, most unassuming young man you could meet. His concert was also really, really good. If you do get a chance to pick up his CD do so, I highly recommend it.
